Top 9 leaders in education

Dominique Brown, Ph.D. student LCC

Dominique Brown is a first year Ph.D. student in EDL, Leadership, Culture, and Curriculum. Dominique has been named one of the top 9 leaders in education as a part of the WCPO’s Next 9 series highlighting outstanding educators from the Greater Cincinnati area. As an EDL 204 (Sociocultural Studies in Education) Instructor, Dominique is passionate about building bridges and fostering dialogue in the community. Dominique states: “It is my personal mission to pursue work that generates deep connection through bridge building. I believe that people not knowing each other leads to mistrust, mistrust leads to hate, and hate fuels violence. But these powerful forces can be leveraged in the reverse to foster empathy. In my student development and community work, I have seen these positive forces at play, I am now pursuing scholarly development of these ideas through my doctoral research.” Dominique is an active board member at Elementz, an urban arts center which supports creative expression of youth in Over-the-Rhine.
