To many Asian Americans Pocky is a familiar childhood treat. Many associate Pocky as a treat at the end of going to the Asian grocery store with their parents, sharing it with friends and family, or an after school snack. Over recent years the beloved snack has become more mainstream, being sold at larger, more popular grocery stores and even in the markets and vending machines of Miami University. The makers of Pocky want to spread the feeling of nostalgia and happiness that many associate with the snack by starting “Pocky Day” or “The Big Share” by going to places around the US such as LA and NYC and giving away boxes of Pocky (meant for you to share with friends, family, or even complete strangers). It is interesting to see how much of an impact an Asian food has made in communities in the States and on daily lives!!
