Travel Writing Contest 2016


Second Annual International Education Week Travel Writing Essay Contest

Miami University undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit essays for prizes in the Travel Writing Essay Contest. We’re looking for creative writing pieces (no more than 750 words) that describe global experiences or transformative intercultural interactions.

Writers should approach the prompt from one of two points of view:

  • International perspectives of the United States
  • American perspectives abroad

The following student prizes* will be awarded for each of the two viewpoints:

  • 1st Place: $500
  • 2nd Place: $250
  • 3rd Place: $100
  • Honorable Mentions: $50 gift card

*All cash prizes above $50 are subject to tax withholding.

Winning travel essays will be featured in a Global Initiatives publication and authors will be invited to present their submissions at the Harry T. Wilks Global Citizenship Forum on Wednesday, November 16, 2016.
