Call For Presentations 2016

Harry T. Wilks Global Citizenship Forum

Wednesday, November 16, 9:00 am-5:00 pm, Armstrong Pavilion A.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit proposals for papers, panels, performances, posters, and readings that illustrate the transformative power of the international experience in bridging cultural gaps, bringing global awareness, and fostering global responsibility. Submissions should encapsulate the theme: I am Miami, I am a Global Citizen.

In your proposals, please address one or more of the following:

Students (undergraduate and graduate, international and US students):

  • How did studying or traveling in a different country change you as a person? As a student?
  • How did globally-oriented courses impact you and in what ways?
  • Have you encountered cultural misunderstandings? How did you respond? What did you learn from those experiences?
  • What does it mean to you to be a global citizen?

Faculty and Staff:

  • How do your global experiences (past and present) impact your teaching/research/work? Mentoring?
  • What are the most effective methods to encourage global citizenship among Miami University students?
  • Study Abroad Directors: What methods result in the most transformative learning experiences abroad for your students? How do you measure these?
  • What does it mean to you to be a global citizen?
